Walsingham holds a unique place in history as the premier place for pilgrimage in England and has been welcoming visitors since 1061!
In addition to the many beautiful medieval buildings, the village is famous for its two shrines and abbey grounds which attract thousands of galanthophiles (snowdrop lovers) each spring from all over the world.
Enjoy shopping at the award-winning Walsingham Farms Shop as well as the many independent shops in and around the village. Afterwards, relax over a delicious meal or fish and chips at The Norfolk Riddle restaurant or visit the Black Lion Hotel in the centre of Walsingham.
One “must do” is a ride through the beautiful countryside on the Wells & Walsingham Light Railway, the longest 10 ¼“ narrow gauge steam railway in the world!
With its gentle undulations and many cycle routes, North Norfolk is the perfect place to enjoy cycling. Bring your own bikes (we have secure storage) or hire locally. We can recommend various outings - ending at a lovely country pub, of course.
Or, if you feel adventurous, why not go for a hack around the wonderful countryside on a pony or horse from the North Norfolk Riding Centre located just a few hundred yards away.
Walsingham is just a short drive from the beautiful beaches at Holkham and Wells-next-the-Sea and some of the most stunning coastline in the country. The historic houses of Holkham, Sandringham, Felbrigg and Blickling are within easy reach, and for bird lovers, the reserves at Pensthorpe, Sculthorpe Moor and Titchwell Marsh are open all year.
Just a few miles away, the Thursford Collection holds its world-famous Christmas Spectacular each year in November and December attracting people from all over the country.
In short, whether you want history, spectacular shows, wonderful beaches, good walks, good food or just to chill out, North Norfolk has it all and we're happy to help you with advice and our recommendations!
